The Martlets Celebrate Volunteer Week

The Martlets Hospice are getting involved with Volunteer Week by holding a Volunteer Information Day on Thursday 6 June between 2pm and 7pm. The event is being held at The Martlets Hospice, Wayfield Avenue, Hove.

Volunteers’ Week is a national campaign that takes place once a year and in 2013, will run between Saturday 1 June and Friday 7 June. The week celebrates the wonderful contribution that millions of volunteers make to charities across the UK.

The Martlets’ Volunteer Information Day event is for recruiting new volunteers. The hospice is looking for new people to join their team and to support the organisation, both in their 10 charity shops, at the Hospice itself and out in the community.

The Martlets fundraising events raise more than half a million pounds each year and their volunteers help make this happen.

At the event their will be loads of other volunteers, you can find out what the charity offers to their volunteers and how you can get involved.

Alison Booker, Volunteer Manager at the Martlets Hospice said “Our volunteers play a huge part in helping the Martlets maintain its vital services and have become an essential part of life here. Volunteering for the Martlets is a chance to make new friends, learn new skills and it could even help you back to work. So if you’ve ever thought about volunteering for the your local hospice pop along on the 6th to find how. Whether it’s a day a week or a couple of hours a month we’d love to hear from you!”

If you are interested in volunteering but are not able to come to the event, please contact the Volunteer Team at the Hospice on 01273 747455 or visit The Martlets website for more information.
