Anti-Social Behaviour in Woodingdean

Copy of e-mail received from Ray Harrison - Police Community Support Officer

Unfortunately there has been a large increase in youth anti-social behaviour in Woodingdean over the last month.

Most of this behaviour is, we believe, the responsibility of a small group who we are actively disrupting. Our activities including returning youths to home addresses and speaking with parents/ guardians AND enlisting the help of our partner agencies such as housing; schools; anti-social behaviour teams.

Any criminal matters will of course be dealt with by arresting those responsible.

There is a concern that although we have received a large number of calls, there is still a degree of UNDER-REPORTING. It is essential for the deployment of the right amount of police to combat problems, that we get a picture of the true scale of the issue.

As a result of the increased anti-social behaviour Sergeant Durkan has arranged for marked police cars to be required to be regularly patrolling in targeted roads of Woodingdean.

Youths will be stopped and asked to account for their presence and officers will be wearing video equipment in order that we may be able to link youths with any descriptions we receive of those causing problems.

If you have information which you feel Sussex Police could benefit from having in order to stop this behaviour, please call 101.

Thank you
